I’m excited to present a lecture-recital on Spanish guitar music written by non-guitarist composers in the early 20th century. The lecture argues that as an instrument historically tied to Spanish culture and identity, when composers wrote their first works for the instrument they were contributing to the political act of negotiating Spanish sonic identity.
